Business Architect
About Afficiency
Afficiency is a rapidly growing Insurtech startup whose mission is to provide life insurance to everyone on the platforms they already trust. Located in NYC, we design life insurance products that can be purchased entirely digitally and can be easily embedded into distribution platforms or with agents who sell insurance. The company is experiencing exponential growth and is well-funded. We are looking for new team members to join us on our journey to shake up the life insurance industry. We need individuals who bring passion, curiosity, and a desire for excellence.
We are seeking a self-starter; a proactive and self-motivated individual who thrives in a dynamic environment and can independently initiate and drive projects to completion.
About the Role
Afficiency is currently seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Business Architect to collaborate closely with cross-functional teams on internal and external product development initiatives. This role demands a deep understanding of both technical and business needs, facilitating smooth collaboration across all teams to deliver a seamless digital insurance solution.
Responsibilities
- Central Orchestration: Serve as the key point of contact for Afficiency's platform and product development by aligning business, product, data, and technology needs. Primary goal is to architect the digitalization of life insurance products and the insurance purchasing journey.
- Participation in Product and Design Discussions: Actively participate in product and design sessions to educate business and product owners about the Afficiency platform architecture. Guide them on crucial aspects like platform integration, API design (e.g., Push vs. Pull methods), and distinguish between real-time and batch processes.
- Data Modeling: Develop a logical data model for all customer journey data, ensuring that it is efficiently captured, shared between platforms, and organized in easily accessible RDBMS and Redis (in-memory) tables. This will serve as basis for technical architect to create the physical data model
- Integration Flow Design: Define the logical integration flow between all components (Between pages, between functions, UI to Backend , etc) and platforms (Internal & external ) , ensuring smooth interaction between systems with proper governance and auditability.
- Master Requirement Document Creation: Create a comprehensive Master Requirement Document for technical development. This document should specify the functions of each platform component, detail how information is exchanged and interpreted, and outline how it will be presented to users. It also covers UI/UX logic, defining the user journey stages, what the user will see based on their path, their interactions with UI elements, and what happens when they click on CTAs (Call-to-Action buttons).
- Parametric Requirements Writing: Understand Afficiency’s no-code/low-code platform architecture and write requirements in a parametric way to fit within its capabilities.
- Technical Development Support: Attend and contribute to tech development meetings to address questions from application engineers, offering guidance when needed.
- External Partner Collaboration: Work with Afficiency’s external partners to clearly explain the platform architecture, influence architectural decisions, and ensure the platform’s independent operation.
- Adherence to Architectural Principles: Collaborate with application engineers to ensure that they adhere to Afficiency’s architectural principles throughout development.
- Documentation Management: Maintain and manage a library of requirement documents with proper version control, ensuring easy reference, auditing, and effective change management.
